Jerry Lynn Gerard
East Lansing
Jerry the man, the myth, the legend. Men wanted to be him and women wanted to be with him. Born April 3, 1947, passed away March 31, 2015. He graduated from Eastern High School in 1965. In 1983, he graduated from Michigan State University with a bachelor degree in business, where he became a diehard Spartan fan. He began working at Melling Drop Forge where he started his tool and die career. Then he worked at Olofsson for many years where he was an avid union steward and later retired. He always knew how to put a smile on everyone's face with his jokes. In his earlier years, he would spend weekends at various comedy clubs doing his stand-up routines. Jerry was a strong family man that always put his kids first. He enjoyed taking them camping and fishing. When he wasn't untangling fishing lines he always had a good story to tell around the campfire.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Rolland & Ruth Gerard. Surviving are his sisters, Betty, Beverly, and Rutheta; brother, Rolland, his children, John Walter, Jerry (Kristine) Gerard, Jr., Jeffrey (Jeannette) Gerard, Heather (Tim) McClain, Jennifer (Lang) Gerard, Justin (Sarah) Gerard, and Holly (Larry) Yardley and 16 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.
Jerry's family will receive friends from 1:00 to 2:00 P.M. Monday with the Celebration of Jerry's Life beginning at 2:00 P.M. Monday, April 13, in the Tiffany Funeral Home, 3232 W. Saginaw, Lansing with Rev. James E. Robinson officiating. Interment will follow at Delta Center Cemetery. A reception will follow at King Arthur's Court Clubhouse, 2201 E. State Rd, Lansing, MI 48906. Jerry was a strong family man, so in lieu of flowers, please take a day and do something special with your family.
